In short
Bravura Solutions fell 20% through early 2026 on AI-disruption fears and currency headwinds, then rebounded sharply after a July earnings upgrade and a strong August result.
Fund managers describe one of the ASX's best corporate turnarounds, with Bravura moving from loss-making to around 30% margins and strong cash generation returned to shareholders.
Seneca Financial Solutions took profits in August, arguing growth will be more muted from here and questioning whether Bravura's Midwinter software can displace entrenched rival Xplan at a now-record valuation.
Bravura Solutions fell 20 percent through the first half of 2026 on AI-disruption fears and currency headwinds, before a July earnings upgrade and a strong August result confirmed one of the more dramatic corporate turnarounds on the ASX, moving from loss-making to around 30 percent margins, even as at least one manager began taking profits on valuation grounds.
A turnaround built on cost discipline, not AI fear
QVG Capital said Bravura's share price story mirrored that of fellow turnaround stock Generation Development, falling 20 percent for the year heading into its trading update, with pessimism reflecting fears about Australian dollar strength against the British pound and what QVG considered ill-founded AI disruption fears, even as the business was undergoing a spectacular turnaround under new board and management. Forager Funds said an earnings upgrade challenged the idea that all software businesses are under threat from AI, with management's preferred cash profit measure lifted to around $77 million from a prior range of $69 million to $73 million, driven mostly by continued cost discipline.
August's result seals the case
QVG Capital said the August result showed accelerating revenue growth, margin expansion, an earnings beat and upgraded guidance, adding it remains enthused by the level of operational improvement still to be executed. Forager Funds called the result everything it had hoped for, with revenue growth, profits and dividends all growing nicely, and the share price rebounding strongly after being caught up in what it called SaaSpocalypse concerns, separately describing Bravura as one of the best turnarounds it has seen, moving from loss-making to around 30 percent margins with strong cash generation returned to shareholders. Datt Capital, which did not hold a position heading into the result, said Bravura has consistently outperformed expectations and carries a strongly aligned shareholder base.
One of the best turnarounds seen, moving from loss-making to ~30% margins with strong cash generation returned to shareholders.

Not everyone thinks there's more room to run
Seneca Financial Solutions moved to sell in August, taking profits on the view that growth will be more muted from here, with the top line growing slower than peers and the business increasingly a cost-out rather than growth story. Seneca also doubts Bravura's Midwinter financial planning software can meaningfully displace entrenched incumbent Xplan, and noted the stock now trades at a record roughly 4.5 times enterprise value to sales, versus cheaper, faster-growing alternatives such as Catapult. Forager Funds trimmed a portion of its own holding after the result despite calling it everything it had hoped for, citing its fund's concentrated portfolio approach as the share price ran.

What fund managers say they are watching next is whether revenue growth genuinely accelerates beyond the cost-driven margin story, whether Midwinter can gain real traction against Xplan in financial planning software, continued delivery on margin expansion and cash generation, and whether the now-record valuation multiple proves sustainable if top-line growth doesn't reaccelerate.
