Bravura Turnaround Wins Over Managers as the Debate Shifts From AI Risk to Growth
Margin gains and capital returns have answered the AI question for many holders, but managers now want proof the top line can accelerate.

In short
Bravura Solutions lifted its cash EBITDA guidance to about $77m and proposed a $50m buyback, with Forager Funds calling it one of the standout software results of the August 2026 season.
QVG Capital and 1851 Capital expect further gains from the turnaround under CEO Colin Greenhill, including possible acquisitions that QVG says are not priced in.
Forager Funds sold again at fuller valuations, while Seneca Financial Solutions and LSN Capital Partners flagged limited top-line growth.
Bravura Solutions has gone from a stock caught in the software sell-off to one of the standout results of the August 2026 reporting season, and fund managers are now debating how much of the turnaround is left to run. Forager Funds said in its September 2026 Quarterly Report that Bravura was one of the standout software results of the season, with strong guidance despite foreign exchange headwinds, but that the result propelled the business back to fuller valuations and it sold the stock once again. "We have had two full bites at this cherry," Forager said, describing how it fully exited towards the end of 2025 and bought back in during the "SaaSpocalypse" sell-off.
Other managers see more to come. QVG Capital's August 2026 Monthly Report said the result showed accelerating revenue growth, margin expansion, a beat to earnings expectations and upgraded guidance. "We're enthused by the level of operational improvement still to be executed," QVG said. 1851 Capital rated Bravura a buy in a September 2026 article, arguing that the market is not yet crediting management's turnaround and citing record-low customer churn, pricing power and cost cuts, with an accelerating top line expected to unlock upside from the current multiple.

Forager's September 2026 article noted that the full-year result included a return to profit, a dividend and a proposed $50m buyback, and that by the end of July Bravura had been the largest position in Forager's Australian Fund. Datt Capital said in an August 2026 presentation that Bravura has consistently outperformed expectations and has a strong, aligned shareholder base, describing the company as "exceptional in its execution."
A new management team with a Constellation playbook
The turnaround thesis took shape in late 2025 around a leadership change. Tamim Funds Management's October 2025 article highlighted the appointment of Colin Greenhill as CEO from 1 January 2026, noting that he was formerly CEO of SSP Worldwide, a subsidiary of Constellation Software, and that his entire long-term incentive package is tied to cash EBITDA margins and share price performance. "We believe the company can drive EBITDA margins toward 30% over time as it optimises its cost base and leverages its global platform," Tamim said.

QVG Capital's October 2025 Monthly Report said it considered the CEO appointment more meaningful for the long-term investor than the earnings upgrade that accompanied it. "We are hopeful Colin can sprinkle some of Constellation's magic dust (33% TSR's over two decades) over Bravura," QVG wrote. Tamim also pointed to professional services wins as a lead indicator of annual recurring revenue growth, which it called the lifeblood of any software business.
By July 2026, QVG described Bravura as "undergoing a spectacular turnaround under a new board and management who are vertical market software experts." The manager also raised a catalyst it believes the market has missed. "We believe Bravura may seek to make acquisitions to complement its modest organic growth; this is not something embedded in consensus or priced by the market," QVG said. Tamim had noted in February 2026 that the new CEO signalled a focus on M&A going forward.
Why managers argue AI is not a threat to Bravura
The core of the bull case is switching costs. Forager Funds' March 2026 Quarterly Report said Bravura's software underpins core functions for wealth managers and super funds, industries with complex regulatory requirements and low tolerance for operational failure, where system replacement can take years and involve significant cost. In a July 2026 article, Forager said recent earnings upgrades suggest customers are still spending money on existing Bravura systems through renewals and project work, "not preparing to throw them out for cheaper AI-generated alternatives."
Tamim Funds Management made a similar case in its February 2026 Monthly Report, seeing "very limited AI threat as the software is highly embedded in client workflows" and pointing to a risk-averse client base that requires its data to be secure. QVG Capital described AI disruption fears as ill-founded in July 2026. Maple-Brown Abbott's March 2026 Quarterly Report noted that Bravura had a clear internal AI usage policy and an encouraging response from employees to AI adoption. Oracle Advisory Group's December 2025 Quarterly Report added a structural tailwind, pointing to an ageing global population increasingly using outsourced financial and investment advice.
The numbers have supported that view. Forager's July 2026 Monthly Report said Bravura lifted its preferred measure of cash profit to about $77m, up from a prior range of $69m to $73m, with better margins mostly coming from continued cost discipline. "The business is showing that the better software incumbents can still grow margins and generate plenty of cash," Forager said. Its June 2026 Annual Report noted that the company had upgraded earnings expectations twice in FY26 and had returned nearly 42 cents per share to investors over 18 months through dividends and capital returns.

The case for caution is about growth, not quality
The sceptics focus on the top line. Seneca Financial Solutions said in an August 2026 presentation that it was taking profits, expecting growth to be more muted from here with revenue growing slower than peers, and describing Bravura as increasingly a cost-out rather than growth story. Seneca also doubted that Bravura's Midwinter financial-planning software can meaningfully displace the entrenched incumbent Xplan, and noted that the stock trades at a record ~4.5x EV/sales, compared with cheaper, faster-growing alternatives such as Catapult. LSN Capital Partners rated the stock a hold in a September 2026 article, saying it was impressed by the cost-driven profitability turnaround but saw limited top-line growth and preferred higher-growth opportunities.
Customer retention has also been watched closely. QVG Capital noted in late 2025 that a client loss was "cause to question churn rates and future revenue growth," although it believed that loss said more about the client's internal strategy than about Bravura's product. By September 2026, 1851 Capital was citing record-low customer churn.
Valuation sensitivity has driven trading in both directions. Ellerston Capital exited in January 2026, citing changing interest rate expectations and the worldwide derating of software companies, while Forager Funds sold, repurchased and sold again as the share price moved around its view of value. Forager's September 2026 article said it sold some of its investment after a result it described as "everything we hoped for," and its September 2026 Quarterly Report said it had sold the stock once again.
What managers are watching next
Bravura's next chapter depends on whether revenue growth can follow the margin recovery. QVG Capital is watching for further operational improvement and potential acquisitions that it says are not in consensus, while 1851 Capital expects an accelerating top line to drive upside. Seneca Financial Solutions and LSN Capital Partners want evidence of stronger growth before backing the valuation, and Forager Funds, having sold at fuller valuations twice, has shown it is willing to return when the price falls. The proposed $50m buyback and continued capital returns remain part of what managers are tracking.
Questions
Why did Forager Funds sell Bravura Solutions again in 2026?
Forager Funds sold Bravura Solutions after its strong August 2026 result pushed the business back to fuller valuations, according to Forager's September 2026 Quarterly Report. Forager had previously exited in late 2025 and bought back in during the software sell-off.
Is AI a threat to Bravura Solutions according to fund managers?
Fund managers including Forager Funds, Tamim Funds Management and QVG Capital argue AI poses a limited threat to Bravura Solutions because its software is deeply embedded in wealth management and superannuation operations, where switching costs are high and clients are risk averse.
What is the bear case on Bravura Solutions?
The bear case on Bravura Solutions centres on growth and valuation. Seneca Financial Solutions said revenue is growing slower than peers, the story is increasingly about cost-out rather than growth, and the stock trades at a record of about 4.5 times EV to sales.
