The fund manager continues to hold Challenger Gold, viewing it as on the cusp of a critical transition from dual-asset explorer to a de-risked, fully funded near-term gold producer. From January 2026, the company will commence production via Toll Milling of 3% of its high-grade Hualilan flagship in San Juan, Argentina. At US$4,000/oz gold, CEL should generate ~75% of today's market cap in free cash flows over three years, financing the remaining 97% standalone Hualilan project. They believe the market is ascribing little value to this and ignoring active monetisation of Ecuador assets, where CMOC's takeover of Lumina Gold's adjacent Cangrejos project implies AU$170M for CEL's attributable resources (54% of market cap). Trading at 2.6x NTM EV/EBITDA at US$4,000/oz gold, they believe the stock will rapidly re-rate to at least 0.4x P/NPV upon free cash flow generation, implying 46% near-term upside.
